SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo community, also proud Texans, got an appetizer of Tejano-flavor entertainment from Tejano Queen Forever, followed by a main dish of Texas Country storyteller and legend, Pat Green.
The 4th annual Pfluger Pfest was held Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage.
TQF opened their high-energy one-hour set with Selena’s Tejano cumbia hit, Como La Flor, followed by other popular ones. The Tejano group also included 70s pop hits–Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 iconic classic, I Will Survive”, and 1980s “Funkytown” by Lipps Inc.
Tejano Queen Forever members are: Estan Rojas, Carymel Rodríguez, Mauricio Gutiérrez Upmann, Nate Lima, and Mich Polan.
Estan Rojas, from Colombia, is the founder, music director, band keyboardist, composer, arranger, and producer, and has conducted orchestras in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, the US, Peru, Mexico, and Guatemala.
Carymel Rodríguez, co-owner and lead vocalist for Selena Forever Tribute Band, is from the Dominican Republic. Carymel began her professional career at age 15. She achieved national recognition after winning the competition, La Gira Del Sabor. Rodríguez’ heritage, her love, and respect for Selena’s music bring passion and magic to the band’s performances.
Mauricio Gutierrez Upmann, originally from Havana, Cuba, is the band’s percussionist. Mauricio graduated from the University of Arts in Cuba. Upmann previously was with one of the top Cuban salsa bands, Alexander Abreu, and Havan d’ Primera for 10 years.
Nate Lima, bassist, music producer, and audio engineer, has been in the business for 20 years. Lima’s career has contributed to other bands’ success, including Calcinha Preta, Tony Garrido, Priscila Senna, and Banda Magníficos.
Chris Vasquez is a native of Texas native and a guitarist. Vasquez has been in the music industry for 20 years as an arranger and producer. Vasquez has performed for many tributes and top-40 bands in DFW.
Mich Polan is a drum set/ percussion performer and educator. Mich has played with artists ranging from The Legacy Jazz Band, Salvation from Sundown, Selena Forever Tribute, and Corey Breedlove. Polan has recorded 40 albums, from Christian Alternative, Progressive Rock, Pop, Folk, Gospel, Jazz, and Jazz Fusion.
Texas Country legend Pat Green’s closing one-hour set performance included storytelling about some of his classic country songs.
Among Green’s songs included, “Girls from Texas”, “California, “Take Me to the Dancehall”, and 1998’s released, “Billy the Kid,” released in 1998.
