{"id":8458,"date":"2026-08-10T02:29:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T02:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flacoguapomedia.com\/?p=8458"},"modified":"2026-08-10T02:29:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T02:29:00","slug":"san-angelo-reads-back-2-school-pop-up-tag-teams-with-super-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flacoguapomedia.com\/?p=8458","title":{"rendered":"San Angelo READS Back-2-School Pop-UP tag teams with Super Heroes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANGELO \u2013The 90 San Angelo community partners\u2019 co-hosts comprised of superheroes\u2014Iron Man, Spiderman- Noir, the Real West Texas Ghostbusters, Andy Armadillo, H-E-B Buddy, Whataguy, also Angelo State University mascots: Mascots \u2013 Bella and Roscoe, came to the rescue to entertain a full house of families with children at the 3rd Annual San Angelo READS! &amp; United We Read Back-to-School Pop-Up.<br \/>\nThe sixth annual, popular SA READS Back-2-School community providers assisted in handing out approximately 2,100 backpacks, along with school supplies consisting of boxes of crayons, composition books, highlighters, glue, and the Black Lagon reading books. The Lagon reading book series was published between 1993, and 2007. The popular children\u2019s book franchise was created by\u00a0Mike Thaler. The stories combine school life with imaginative monsters, bullies, and exaggerated fears. The main character, Hubie Brown is a worry-prone student who attends Hardy Elementary School.<br \/>\nAnother fictional children\u2019s favorite character who made his appearance was Andy Armadillo, the beloved Texas Roadhouse mascot.<br \/>\nAmong the 90 community partners were:<br \/>\nThe YMCA, Crunch Fitness, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sanangelocounseling\">West Texas Counseling &amp; Guidance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61555687170964\">Kappa Delta Pi<\/a>\u00a0\/ ASU College of Education, also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61578210758577\">Central High School Cheerleaders<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100063639710747\">Lake View High School Cheerleaders<\/a>, etc.<br \/>\nAmong the plethora of games, and activities included:<br \/>\nSpinning the multi-colored wheel for free prizes such as a backpack, a coozie, water bottle<br \/>\nHelp with 2026\u20132027 school registration<br \/>\nImmunization clinic<br \/>\nVehicle Exploration<br \/>\nThe 2,100 backpacks made available to students, came from the support of United We Read, Atmos Energy and a grant from the Texas Trust Gives Foundation.<br \/>\nUnited Way of the Concho Valley also donated 1,000 free hot dogs for families, and their children.<br \/>\nThe SA READS Back-2-School Pop-up was held on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at the First Financial Pavilion, 4400 Grape Creek Rd.<br \/>\nFor the complete 90 community partners listed, copy and paste the link below.<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.saisd.org\/news-item\/~board\/news\/post\/more-than-1600-attend-3rd-annual-san-angelo-reads-united-we-read-back-to-school-pop-up<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANGELO \u2013The 90 San Angelo community partners\u2019 co-hosts comprised of superheroes\u2014Iron Man, Spiderman- Noir, the Real West Texas Ghostbusters, Andy Armadillo, H-E-B Buddy, Whataguy, also Angelo State University mascots: Mascots \u2013 Bella and Roscoe, came to the rescue to entertain a full house of families with children at the 3rd Annual San Angelo READS!
